When: AbstractIf we really want to improve the way we develop software, we need to start by understanding the team itself - what they bring to the table. The context of skills, cultures and attitudes of all the people involved plays a critical role in determining which approach will be most effective for developing software, and indeed how we should deploy the changes with the team. This presentation describes the elements of the team to consider as a precursor to change. These include an inventory of team skills and perspectives as well as cultures, motives and attitudes as a means of determining the fit of a proposed approach. Broad participation is a critical element for effective adoption of change, and the group must take personal ownership for the success of the initiative. About Jim BrosseauJim Brosseau have been in the software industry since 1980, in a range of roles from tester and developer to manager and director. He has developed software and managed teams in embedded avionics, ATC systems, and commercial software packages. Since 1998 Jim has consulted with organizations worldwide to improve their approaches for successfully delivering software. He has published numerous technical articles, and presented at major conferences and local professional associations. Addison-Wesley Professional recently published his first book, Software Teamwork: Taking Ownership for Success, on which much of this presentation is based (several copies will be raffled off at the presentation).Past Meetings
